Vrindavanam: The Legacy

Our Heritage: A Legacy of Healing Since 1930’s

In the 1930s, knowledge of Ayurveda was not easily found in books or classrooms. It was passed down through the ancient Gurukula system, a way of learning that required patience, discipline, devotion, and complete surrender to the wisdom of a teacher. In this traditional setting, under the guidance of a revered Hindu saint, a young student from a remote village of Thrikkariyoor in Kerala began learning the profound science of Ayurveda.

Days turned into years as he observed herbs, studied the rhythms of nature, and learned the deeper philosophy of healing. Ayurveda was not just medicine to him… It was a way of understanding life itself. Slowly, with dedication and spiritual focus, he mastered the art of preparing traditional remedies.

Back in his village, he began practicing what he had learned. Every medicine was prepared by hand, following classical Ayurveda methods that respected nature’s balance. Arishtas, kashayas, and herbal formulations were carefully crafted with patience and precision, just as tradition demanded.

Word began to spread.

People who sought relief from illness started visiting him. Families came not only from nearby villages but also from distant places, even from the areas that are currently part of Tamil Nadu, carrying with them hope and trust. Over time, he became widely known for his remarkable treatment of jaundice, and for many, he became a beacon of healing.

But those who visited him often spoke about something more than just the medicines. They spoke about the kindness with which they were welcomed, the calmness of the place, and the reassurance they felt in his presence.

His clinic slowly became more than a place for treatment.

It became a place where people gathered, shared stories, found comfort, and rediscovered hope. In many ways, it felt like a small wellness community center, where healing went beyond medicine.

His name was Vaidyan S. Shankaran Nair, the great-grandfather of Dr. Vrinda G. Nair.

Through generations, this wisdom has been preserved, nurtured, and strengthened. Eventually inspiring Dr. Vrinda G. Nair and Sri. Sreejith Mohan to revive and modernize this heritage for today’s world, without losing its soul.

Today, nearly a century later, that same spirit of healing continues through Vrindavanam Ayurveda, founded by Dr. Vrinda G. Nair, along with Sri Sreejith Mohan, her husband, carrying forward a legacy that began with one man’s devotion to Ayurveda and service to humanity.

This sacred legacy of sincerity, selfless service, and authentic practice continues to guide Vrindavanam Ayurveda today.

Every Vrindavanam product carries this history within it.

Every formulation reflects decades of learning. Every bottle represents a promise passed down through time.

We are not just continuing a tradition. We are honoring a legacy.

We believe wellness is not a trend… It is a legacy, a responsibility, and a way of life.

Our journey is deeply rooted in the age old wisdom of Ayurveda, inspired by the rich heritage of Vaidyan S. Shankaran Nair during the period of 1930’s. Carrying forward this sacred tradition, Vrindavanam Ayurveda was founded by the Ayurveda couple Dr. Vrinda G. Nair (Ayurveda
Doctor & Yoga Therapist – BAMS, MD (Ayu), PGDYN), along with her husband Sri. Sreejith Mohan (Ayurveda Entrepreneur & Yoga Trainer), with a heartfelt mission:

To bring authentic healing, balance, and vitality back into modern lives.

We believe that true health is not just the absence of illness, but the presence of energy, peace, confidence, and inner harmony. Every product we create is designed to support not only your body, but your overall well-being.

The One Who Carries the Legacy Forward

Every legacy needs someone to carry it forward.

For Dr. Vrinda G. Nair, Ayurveda is more than a profession. It is a living tradition; one that has been passed down through generations, shaped by knowledge, experience, and a deep respect for nature.

With a BAMS in Ayurveda from Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurvedic College & Hospital and an MD in Ayurveda Medicine (Dravyaguna) from IPGT & RA, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, Dr. Vrinda brings together classical Ayurveda wisdom with a broader understanding of holistic wellbeing.

Her practice spans Ayurvedic General Medicine and General Practice, complemented by specialized training in Gynecology, Yoga Therapy, Yoga and Naturopathy, and Smrithi Meditation.
She is also specialized in Dravyaguna, the Ayurvedic science of understanding and using medicinal herbs for healing and wellbeing, helping ensure the proper and authentic formulation and use of Ayurveda products rooted in traditional knowledge and time-tested wisdom.

But her journey with Ayurveda extends beyond the consultation room.

As an author, speaker, entrepreneur, and yoga therapist, she continues to explore new ways of bringing the wisdom of Ayurveda into everyday life, making ancient knowledge easier to understand, experience, and carry into the future.

As an active member of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI), she believes that preserving a tradition does not mean keeping it unchanged. It means understanding its essence, respecting its roots, and finding meaningful ways to pass it on.

From one generation to the next, the legacy continues.

Dr. Vrinda G. Nair is also a writer and co-author of Text Book of Swasthavritta, an academic work on Ayurvedic health, preventive care, and holistic wellbeing prescribed under the NCISM BAMS curriculum. Through her writing, she continues to share and preserve the wisdom of Ayurveda for generations to come.

Preserving Herbs, Protecting Ayurveda

Here, we believe that the future of Ayurveda depends on the survival of the very herbs that give it life. Many medicinal plants that have been used in traditional formulations for centuries are slowly disappearing due to environmental changes, overharvesting, and loss of natural habitats. Recognizing this responsibility, we actively support the preservation and responsible cultivation of rare and valuable Ayurvedic herbs.

By promoting sustainable sourcing, encouraging herbal cultivation, and respecting nature’s balance, we strive to protect these precious botanical treasures from extinction. Through these efforts, we are not only safeguarding nature, but also preserving the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda for future generations.

Project Vaidyekya: A Community of Healing Minds

Project Vaidyekya is a thoughtful initiative by Vrindavanam Ayurveda created to nurture unity, learning, and collaboration within the Ayurveda community. The vision behind this project is to build a space where experienced Ayurveda doctors and young practitioners can come together, share their knowledge, and grow collectively.

Through open discussions, mentorship, and the exchange of practical insights across various fields of Ayurveda, Project Vaidyekya encourages a continuous flow of wisdom from one generation to the next.

Beyond differences in institutions, practices, or regions, this community stands on a shared purpose: strengthening Ayurveda through collective learning, shared experiences, and deeper understanding of treatments, medicines, and patient care. By fostering this spirit of knowledge-sharing, Project Vaidyekya aims
to empower the next generation of Ayurveda doctors while preserving the depth and richness of this ancient healing tradition.

Making Ayurveda Easier for Today’s World

Here, we believe that, even while preserving traditions, it should also evolve to suit the needs of modern life. Many classical Ayurveda medicines, like kashayas, are highly effective but can be difficult for some people to consume regularly.

To make these powerful formulations more convenient and user-friendly, we focus on thoughtful innovation without compromising their essence. As part of this effort, we have developed Arka, a transparent liquid alternative to traditional kashayas, along with tablets and capsule forms, allowing
people to experience the benefits of Ayurveda in a simpler and more comfortable way. With these efforts, we strive to make authentic Ayurvedic wellness more accessible for everyone.

We invite you to experience Ayurveda the way it was meant to be:

Pure. Powerful. Personal.

Welcome to Vrindavanam Ayurveda! Where heritage meets healing, and health becomes a way of life.
